What to consider when buying a car transportable scooter
Weight of the scooter folded or in pieces
Although these are the smallest type of scooter on the market they are still scooters with heavy motors and heavy batteries and it is important that you make sure you can lift the scooters in and out of where is needed. There may be a trade off between weight and quality of scooter. Or weight of scooter and cost.
Ability Plus works closely with suppliers to ensure they are on the forefront of scooter technology and able to offer customers the latest and improved scooter offering. Lighter and Lighter batteries and scooter frame materials are becoming available meaning scooters are becoming much more manageable to lift even to those with very little strength.
Range of Scooter
This is basically how far you wish to travel on the scooter on one battery charge. The distance you go on scooter is directly related to the size of battery that the scooter has. As car transportable scooters are designed to be compact they often come with small batteries meaning they are limited in range.
The bigger the battery the heavier it is. This also results in the range of the scooter being lower as boot scooters need to not be too heavy or they will just not be manageable to lift.
Where you will be using the scooter
When choosing a scooter you need to be realistic as to where you will be using the scooter on a daily basis. You wouldn’t choose a Ferrari to drive off road and you wouldn’t choose a Transit Van to do a drag race.
Car Transportable Scooters do not have big heavy motors with big off road wheels so are more ideally placed for pavements, shopping centres and high streets. Make sure you speak to one of our experts about where you will be taking the scooter so we can ensure its the right product for you.
Size of scooter
It is important that when folded or dismantled it fits in to the car you will be primarily be transporting it in.
Weight Limit of scooter
All scooters will have maximum user weight limit and boot scooters are on the lower end of the weight limit. There are, however, models out there that will cater for the heavier person. Please always check the weight limit of the scooter.
